Introduction to classical dance (1h30)
This course is for adults who have never practiced classical dance , even if they have done other dance styles (jazz, modern, etc.), as well as adult students who did ballet as a child .
The purpose of the initiation level is, on the one hand, to physically prepare the student for the very particular work of classical dance, and on the other to begin learning the basic movements of ballet in an accessible and progressive way. .
Physical preparation is vital to approach without fear of injury and to make the first dance exercises accessible, which require specialized flexibility, such as that of the ankles and the posterior and inner sides of the thighs.
The first half hour of the course is therefore always dedicated to floor work , which includes among others :
leg stretches_cc781905-5cde -3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_;
strengthening the abdominal strap and lower back ;
exercises for the flexibility of the feet and ankles ;
shoulder and upper back opening exercises.
In the preparatory course the basics of classical dance are given throughout the year in a slow progression which facilitates the learning of the basic positions, steps and port-de-arms .
During the first months the work at the bar is executed avec two hands on the bar , to move to one hand on the bar at the end about three months. The different exercises at the barre are studied gradually until accomplishing the work of the barre towards the middle of the year.
In practice in the center of the room, after the barre, the barre exercises are repeated without support, so as to develop balance and a sense of space.
Beginner to Intermediate level
The beginner level is for adult students who have followed a year or more of classical dance on a regular basis in our center or in other structures , provided that they know the progression of exercises at the barre._cc781905-5cde- 3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_
The beginner course continues the work started with the initiation course with the addition of new steps and ports de bras at the barre and in the center. The rhythm of the exercises also begins to accelerate towards its form “ finale ” and new combinations of steps are studied.
Intermediate level
The intermediate level is intended for adult students who have followed the preparatory course and the beginner course on a regular basis, or for those who already have a knowledge of the progression of exercises at the barre and in the center of the room .
In the intermediate course the work in the center of the room is gradually refined, with the progressive approach of the specific steps of the adage and of_cc781905-5cde-3194- bb3b-136bad5cf58d_ l' allegro et l'étude des tours (pirouettes) .
At the bar, the exercises begin to be performed en relevé (sur la demi-pointe) to increase body posture and balance._cc781905-5cde-3194 -bb3b-136bad5cf58d_
The port des bras complexes are approached in the third year, including the 3rd, 4th and 6th port de bras.

The ideal outfit consists of a cotton bodysuit (long or short sleeves) or a tank top, tights and dance shoes in fabric or leather . These can be replaced by simple socks during the first times. To buy your slippers, ask your teacher, who will be able to tell you where to buy them and how to choose them.
